AMBER HOTELS is a hotel chain based in Hilden near Düsseldorf, Germany and boasts a total of eight hotels in the middle and high-end segment. Robert Jan Derckx has been successfully managing the AMBER HOTELS chain since it was established in 1997. The hotels, which are all located in Germany, offer holidaymakers, business travellers and trade fair visitors comfort, quality and fair prices. They are also situated in easily accessible locations, with many also offering modern conference areas and an attractive range of delicacies. The AMBER HOTEL Group aims to further strengthen its position in the German market and to improve its profile on both a regional and national level.

The AMBER HOTEL Group headquarters are located in Hilden, Germany, and are run by the Managing Director of the Group, Robert Jan Derckx.

Following his studies at the Maastricht Hotel Management School, Robert Jan Derckx initially gained F&B experience in a Michelin-starred hotel in Belgium. He then moved on to a hotel in the South Eifel region of Germany, where he developed his knowledge as Reception Manager of the Room Division Team.

Derckx worked as the Marketing and Sales Director of the Dorint hotel chain for over ten years and was significantly involved in the development of the chain. He then became the Manager of a Dorint hotel with 560 beds, to prepare for operative tasks in future, before taking on the role of Regional Director of Operations within the Dorint Group, in which he was responsible for 15 hotels in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Since the beginning of the 1990s, Derckx has been operating hotels in Germany for a variety of investors, including hotels in the USA until 2006. In order to give these individual business operations a better market position, the hotels decided to merge in 1997 to form the AMBER HOTELS chain, with the Group Management placing its focus on the German market.

The investment adviser Lange Vermögensberatung GmbH in Munich is significantly involved in AMBER HOTELS. At the beginning of 2009, Lange Vermögensberatung GmbH purchased majority shares in the company Juwel Touristik GmbH, which led to AMBER entering into an agency agreement with Juwel Touristik GmbH.
